This week's component review covers RSFinder, a helpful module that lets you navigate throughout the backend of your Joomla website very quickly.
Component Review: RSFinder
RSFinder is a helpful little extension that is especially useful if you manage any Joomla websites with lots of content items. After you install the extension and the plugin, RSFinder allows you to navigate to different content items (articles, modules, menu items, etc.) from a small search box at the top of the admin interface.
What makes this really nice is that you can jump quickly from section to section. For example, to go from editing an article to editing a module, you would usually have to exit out of the article manager, go into the module manager, and then start looking for the item you want to edit. But you shave quite a few seconds off your search if you just type what you are looking for into RSFinder, since you can jump from section to section.
You can also customize RSFinder by editing the plugin settings. In the settings you can control the maximum number of search results that appear, and you can also identify what types of items you want the module to search for. For example, if you know that you never want to use RSFinder to edit categories or sections, you can disable searching on these two item types.
Cost: Free!
Where to Get It: Download RSFinder
Conclusion:
RSFinder is a very simple extension that will save you lots of time. It is always one of the first extensions I install whenever I launch a new website. Plus - it's free, making this a no-brainer. I definitely recommend you check it out.
